ZTE to Foray into North American Market in 2011

Chinese telecom equipment supplier ZTE plans to double its product portfolio in the North American market in 2011, according to a February 14, 2011 report by the Wall Street Journal. It is reported that ZTE has been focusing on value-line mobile phone business in emerging markets, but the company now plans to emphasize on North American market and offer Smartphones and tablet PCs starting from 2011. It is expected that most of ZTE's devices will run on Android operating system, and certain tablet products will work with LTE (Long Term Evolution). ZTE projected that the company's Smartphones will be distributed by major North American telecom operators and include a ZTE logo. ZTE released 14 devices in North America in 2010, including 11 mobile phones for the US market.
